WebThe main concern I have is that I purposely put the shower valve on an interior wall that I have access to on the other side through drywall. If the shower valve did leak I feel like kerdie board would hold up where the drywall could be compromised based on how it was leaking and for how long. WebI found so many conflicting answers for this but I finally settled on mounting the cement board 1/4" above the flange and then sealing the gap with kerdi band and kerdi fix. Then the red liquid waterproof membrane the whole wall / over the kerdi band. It was an extra $40 bucks but seemed worth it to me.
