She died during a volleyball match in Japan as a result of Marfan syndrome ( visit link) Hyman was the second of eight children. As a child, Hyman was self-conscious about her rapid growth. WebFlo was born in Los Angeles on July 31, 1954. She discovered volleyball and her destiny while attending high school in Inglewood, California. She would attend college at the University of Houston where she was named a collegiate All-American three times.
